Why Tungsten Carbide?

When it comes to hardness, Tungsten Carbide ranks just below diamond, making it an incredibly effective material for trimming tools. Here’s a quick comparison:

  • Diamond: The hardest material on Earth, scoring 10 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
  • Tungsten Carbide: A very hard material, scoring 9 on the Mohs scale. It’s double the density and stiffness of steel, making it an ideal choice for tools that need to maintain sharpness over time.
  • Steel: While a reliable material, steel has a lower hardness (4-4.5 on Mohs scale) compared to Tungsten Carbide and diamond.

What does that mean? If you can trim 100 pots with your steel tool. You can trim 100,000 pots with tungsten carbide. Tips so tuff it can trim dry greenware, if needed (wear a mask!).
